The Disgrace Of Early Voting

The Disgrace Of Early Voting

The New York Times reported yesterday that “more than 22 million people have already voted, through early voting and absentee ballots … — most of which were cast before the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, announced on Friday that the bureau was reviewing a new trove of emails related to Hillary Clinton.”

The late discovery of a large cache of Hillary’s previously hidden out of proper channel emails and the ensuing controversy thus means that these millions of early voters voted in ignorance of a major event — potentially a turning point — in the campaign.

Perhaps early voters should be allowed to request a mulligan, and vote again. Failing that, early voting should be largely eliminated, except for necessary absentee voting and severe hardship cases.
