M4F – Pillage and Plunder

Privateers. Pirates. Free shipmen. The label isn't important to us as much as the spirit of the thing. We were press-ganged into ship service, navies and merchant vessels alike, abducted from the streets and forced into harsh conditions for pay amounting to little more than loincloths and food scraps. How many ships did they fill like that, taking honest men and reducing them to little more than animals? It was inevitable that we mutinied against them, tossing our slavers overboard and swearing fealty only to each other. Each man entitled to an equal share of our earnings for an equal share of the work to the best of his ability.

Our country turned against us, as it always valued the interests of the bigwigs over the little people they stomp on. So we became outlaws, ship-to-ship raids our only way of securing any wealth to feed and clothe us, while the threat of hanging loomed over our heads should we get caught.

My best friend and first mate Jared Fearless was caught, and the governor gave sanction not just to hang him, but to torture him and display him as an example to the rest of us pirates. He didn't realize it would enrage us, not discourage us! Not with Angry Angus Black at the helm! Not with every pirate ship and every pirate captain united against them despite our differences!

How many ships have we set to the torch in revenge, sparing only the women for our carnal lusts? How many villages have we plundered in silent midnight raids? Only with our deaths–or the country's–will we cease.

Now, armed and strengthened, we will pillage and plunder the governor's own city. I hear his daughter's a looker…
