CMV: No gender pay gap exists, what exists is an earnings gap. via /r/changemyview

This probably has more to do with the terminology of this issue.

Women and men are paid the same amount for the same role in virtually all roles. However what differs is how much men and women are earning on average. There are more men in higher paid roles than women so men on average earn more money.

There are probably many reasons for this and I'm not really making any claims about the reasons. However I imagine having and caring for children is partly responsible for the gap in earnings.

Also I'm referring mostly to the UK. If pay gaps exist in other countries I accept that.
