Overtime class action filed against Goldman Sachs

Goldman Sachs overtime suitEconomic damages are central in class action wage and hour cases involving overtime pay violations.

A collective action lawsuit was recently filed against Goldman Sachs for alleged overtime pay violations for hourly workers. The lawsuit alleges that Goldman Sachs failed to pay hourly workers the federally mandated overtime rate of ‘time-and-a-half’ for hours worked more than 40 per week.

Bloomberg reports that Goldman Sachs was also sued by computer-network technicians in 2010 who claimed their employer denied them overtime pay for their work as contractors. Beginning in 2009, Goldman Sachs included consultants and temporary staff in employee numbers. The plaintiffs alleged they were not properly compensated for overtime in work weeks that included as much as 70 hours of work. A settlement was reached in 2012.
