[nynab] Credit card transaction categorization; should principal and interest be sorted into multiple categories? And what about goals setting?

New user, just started yesterday.

I am wondering about the best way to record a credit card monthly payment transaction if I am paying more than the minimum payments towards the balance each month in order to pay them down more quickly.

Like everyone, I pay both principal and interest in one payment to the creditor when I make my monthly payment. When that payment comes into YNAB, should I be splitting the payment transaction into two categories when I bring import in and sort it? I'd want to record the interest in a separate category in "true expenses", and keep the principal balance up in the credit card section. Is that more trouble than it's worth or the proper way to it, or other?

I'm guessing it could go either way, but I'd like to use the goals feature to help me stay on top of this, by setting a monthly goal towards the balance. Goals are at the root of my motivation for asking the previous questions. If I am, in fact splitting interest and principal into two categories, should my monthly goal for the credit card principal balance category be equal to whatever I want to pay towards the principal payment? This implies that I'm handling the interest portion of the credit payment with some sort of month to month balance closing goal being used on that category.

If that makes sense, all I am hoping for is that someone tells me that I am not crazy and that my plan will work just fine. I've just never used this before and I'm nervous. Thanks!
