THIS. Worldwide, there is still a pay gap between men and women. The gap widens when factors such as race and ethnicity come into play, as well as a nation’s development and a woman’s education, marital status, or motherhood. Women have been found (unsurprisingly) to do a significant amount of unpaid work: childcare, house keeping, cleaning, financial maintenance for their households, and other “domestic” tasks. If women were paid for all this work, their annual salaries (in the U.S.) would equal roughly $114,000! (http://read.bi/20RAvP0) It’s been demonstrated repeatedly that the addition of women’s unpaid work to a country’s GDP would have an overall positive effect – just like women’s economic contributions herald better national financial health for nations.
