Driving in Regina….just some hints and tips 1 – 8

Just a few tips, hopefully it will help some people.

  1. Signals lights are important,t hey are a courtesy to other drivers, some that you can see and others you cannot, it tells these fellow drivers what your intentions are. Super helpful to everyone and also you are in Canada, so be polite.

  2. Braking distance…. If there is less then a car length at 100kph; it's too close! At around 100kph braking distance (with a non-modded / performance vehicle) is like 50 meters…. Heard of the 100 meters race, well half that, and only if you are on the ball. So anyway, 5 meters away, well a rear ending is your fault but well, we are both going to die and hurt our cars 😯

  3. Pedestrians usually have the right of way…. Sure some are jerks but respect the ones that are trying to follow the rules. On a small note, being outside in Winter and you in your fucking warm ass car! You can blood well wait.

  4. Stopping distance, just take a look at my wheels. Can you see them? Nope, way too close. Yes…. Okay, so now, can you see a lot of road as well? Too far. All you have to do is take your foot off the brake (automatic only). Okay so put the bottom of my wheels on your bonet / hood, that is usually a good guide. Sure not all vehicles are equal but it mostly works for the standard ones… Then, for the others, just match that distance.

  5. Why ride the brakes? They cost money, just coast up to the line, prepare for Winter where you can't slam on the brakes to stop.

  6. The horn is a tool not an insult. You know it can be sort of uncivilized to lay on the horn for 30 seconds because someone made a mistake. The horn is for people that don't see you to identify yourself….. But don't get me wrong, if someone does something stupid that it endangered your safety then fucking push that horn and inform them but don't be a jerk; but if someone is slow on green light or small mis-turn, just calm down, your in Canada.

  7. Okay so cyclists are jerks at times but really if you are in a car you can really hurt them, like physically, mentally is when they are wrong and you shout at them. So my rule is…. So on the road wearing a helmet, they are a vehicle, on the road with no helmet, they are an idiot and watchout, on the sidewalk with or without a helmet pedestrian and should follow the rules of that category but they could be an idiot so be vigilant.

  8. Braking and accelerating is a fun thing to get good at and to perfect (or as close as a wannabe). In a turn or a bend you should never have to do more than accelerate, brake, accelerate. Play this game with me… So you are driving towards a bend; with the accelerator down – accelerate; you need to brake to slow down for the turn; brake; and then accelerate out of the turn not having to brake or lift again, as gentle as you need to pull away safely, or a adventurous as you can with full control hitting that apex.

  9. Green, amber (yellow), and red lights…. So green is go, pay attention, your in a vehicle, your driving, others are too. Amber, slow down and stop unless safe to do so. Red, bloody well just stop would you….. It is red… Not your turn. Would you just skip the driving through in Timmy's… No you fucking wouldn't, so why do it when you don't have to face the person. Just stop and wait. Your fault your late.

I hope this wasn't an insult, just an observation while doing in this awesome city.
